Kate Winslet’s ‘Mare of Easttown’, filmed near Philadelphia, will air in April

Easttown MareThe HBO drama starring Oscar-winning actress Kate Winslet, which was filmed in Delaware and Chester counties, will premiere April 18.

Created and written by Brad Ingelsby of Berwyn (The way back), and apparently set in Easttown, Chester County, the seven-episode limited series features Winslet as Mare Sheehan, described by HBO as “a small-town Pennsylvania detective investigating a local murder while that life collapses around her”.

Easttown Mare the cast includes Julianne Nicholson (abroad), John Smart (Fargo, Watchers), Angourie rice (black mirror), Evan Peters (american horror story), Guy Pearce (Mildred Pierce) and Sosie Bacon (Here and now), the actress daughter of Kevin Bacon of Philadelphia and his wife, Kyra Sedgwick.

Filming for the series began in fall 2019 and was originally scheduled to air in 2020, but was delayed by the pandemic.

The drama’s release follows the AMC series filmed in Philadelphia last year. Shipments from elsewhere and the recently premiered second season of Servantthe M. Night Shyamalan series for Apple+ which takes place in Center City, as well as the film made in Philly concrete cowboy, which starred Idris Elba and is set to premiere on Netflix this year.
