Microsoft is renaming its data governance service to Microsoft Purview
Recently, Microsoft announced Microsoft domaina new product branding uniting the Azure Purview data governance service with various Microsoft 365 compliance solutions.
Last October, the company launched Azure Purview in general availability and is now merging it with its Microsoft 365 Compliance wallet offer a unified offer to customers. New Microsoft Purview branded offering includes data governance of Microsoft Data and AI and compliance and risk management of Microsoft Security. In addition, the offer will also be supplemented by identity and access management, threat protection, cloud security, terminal managementand privacy management capacities.
With Microsoft Purview, the company aims to help customers see their assets across their entire data estate, protect and manage sensitive data across clouds, apps and endpoints, and manage risk and regulatory conformity.
Microsoft Purview brings together unified “data and AI” data governance and security risk management and compliance solutions.
Over the past two years, organizations have experienced a massive increase in their digital footprint, leading to data fragmentation and growth across a multitude of apps, devices, and locations. It’s a vast digital world that every organization must try to manage. In addition to the rebranding, the company also announcement the general availability of Microsoft Purview Data Loss Prevention for macOS devices, the expansion more than 50 types of sensitive information, multi-stage retention in Microsoft Purview Data Lifecycle Management, and more Feature to Microsoft Purview eDiscovery (Premium) to improve the identification of relevant data in Teams.
Currently, Microsoft Purview is available to Azure customers in the Microsoft Purview Governance Portaland Microsoft 365 E5 or Microsoft E5 Compliance customers can use the Microsoft Purview Compliance Portal.
